New to IndieStitch? Here’s everything you need to know before your first box arrives.
Each IndieStitch box includes everything you need to complete the monthly sewing project—except your sewing machine and basic tools. Here’s what you’ll get:
- The printed sewing pattern pieces
- Fabric (enough for the largest size in the pattern)
- Coordinating notions (like thread, needles, elastic, etc.)
- Bonus goodies just for fun
- Access to our video tutorial and community sew along
Note: Written instructions are not included in the box. Our featured patterns are digital (PDF), and instructions must be downloaded directly from the designer’s website. You'll find download instructions and a coupon code for the pattern on the main insert inside your box.
We feature a mix of garments and seasonal pieces—mostly women’s wear like tops, skirts, jackets, pants, shorts, and loungewear. All patterns are confident beginner-friendly, with sizing up to at least a US 30.

Nope! Your IndieStitch box includes a coupon code that allows you to download the featured pattern for free directly from the designer’s website. This gives you full access to the instructions and ensures the designer gets credit for their work.
You’ll find the download link and code on the main insert inside your box—no additional purchase needed!
Every pattern we include offers a size range from XXS to at least Plus 3X, and many go up to a US size 30.
For every box, we guarantee the pattern will accommodate up to:
- Upper Bust: 48″
- Full Bust: 53″
- Waist: 48″
- Hip: 57″
You'll also receive enough fabric and materials to make the largest size included in the pattern—no need to worry about running short!
Yes! Our projects are designed with all skill levels in mind. Many members are confident beginners or intermediate sewists. If you’re brand new to sewing, we recommend checking out our video tutorials and taking your time—our community is here to help!
Yes! You’ll receive the full pattern, which often includes multiple views and sizes. You'll only get enough fabric for one version in one size, but you can reuse the pattern with your own materials.
Ordering, Shipping & Tracking
Subscription boxes are shipped during the first week of each month. If you signed up in July, your first box will ship between August 1–6. You'll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking info as soon as your box is on the way.
Tracking info is emailed to you automatically once your order has shipped. This usually happens within 2–3 business days for non-subscription products, and during the first week of the month for subscription boxes.
Once your order ships, you’ll receive an email with your tracking number and a link to track your package. Can’t findthe email? Check your spam/junk folder, or log in to your account and view your order history.
Sometimes tracking info takes 24–48 hours to update after your label is created. If it's been more than 3 business days with no movement, reach out to us at hello@indiestitch.com and we’ll help investigate.
We ship all Canadian subscription boxes via FedEx International. The flat-rate shipping fee includes delivery duties paid, so you shouldn't encounter surprise customs charges
Once shipped, orders to Canada typically arrive within 3 business days. Please allow a little extra time during holidays or severe weather events.
We prepay all duties and taxes on Canadian shipments—so you shouldn’t owe anything when your box arrives.
We ship via FedEx International Connect Plus, which includes pre-paid fees.
If FedEx asks you to pay:
-Let them know duties/taxes were paid by the shipper
-If they insist, contact us before paying or refuse the package
We’ll take care of it from there!
Changed your mind? It happens! Here’s what you need to know about returns and cancellations.
We accept returns on most items within 30 days of delivery, as long as the item is unused, in original condition, and in its original packaging. Just email us at hello@indiestitch.com with your order number and reason for return to get started.
We’re not able to accept returns on:
- Personalized or custom items
- Fabric that has been cut or washed
- Discounted or sale items
- Digital products (like downloadable patterns)
If the item arrived damaged or defective, we’ll cover the return shipping. Otherwise, return shipping is the customer’s responsibility.
Once we receive and inspect your return, we’ll issue a refund to your original payment method within 7–10 business days. If you don’t see it after that, double-check with your bank or card provider, then email us if needed.
Of course!
- Month-to-month subscriptions can be canceled anytime through your account. You’ll still receive any boxes already paid for.
- Prepaid (6 or 12 month) subscriptions can be canceled to prevent renewal, but they are non-refundable once the first box has shipped.
If your order hasn’t shipped yet, reach out to us ASAP at hello@indiestitch.com. We’ll do our best to stop it and issue a full refund. If it’s already shipped, you’ll need to wait until it arrives and then go through our return process.
We totally get it—things happen! If your subscription just renewed and your box hasn’t shipped yet, email us at hello@indiestitch.com and we’ll issue a full refund for that renewal.
Customizing Your Box
On the 28th of each month, we send out a fabric selection survey via email. The email includes a direct link to the fabric selection area of our Membership Hub.
There is a short video showcasing each fabric. You can then make your top to selections below the video and hit "Submit Answers"
We have between 4-6 fabrics to choose from each month.
If a fabric is not selected before the end of the month, you will still receive a kit and the fabric will be one of the monthly choices.
If you are on a month to month plan-
Log into your account at IndieStitch.com and follow the on-screen instructions for skipping/pausing your subscription.
If you are on a pre-pay or commitment plan:
Visit https://indiestitch.com/substitution/ to select from a past box or swap our your pattern for extra fabric and notions for a "choose your own pattern" project kit.
If you would like to skip a shipment due to extenuating circumstances, email Hello@IndieStitch.com and we can pause your account per your request.
Note – if you have a 3, 6, or 12-month subscription, you will be adding a month to your commitment term to make up for the one that is skipped.
We realize that not everyone will enjoy every pattern or fabric style.
That is why you are given a sneak peek before the boxes are shipped. The sneak peek link is sent out with renewal reminders.
If you decide you do not like the pattern - feel free to head to our Past Box Shop and select a past box. Then, email our customer support at Hello@IndieStitch.com with your selection.
You can also choose to have an extra yard of fabric and a bonus item placed in your box as a substitute for the pattern. This way you will receive all the materials you need to create a pattern from your stash!

Not at all! The sew along is totally optional, but it’s a fun way to connect with other members and get step-by-step support as you work through the project.
If you prefer to sew on your own, no problem—you’ll still have access to all the video tutorials and resources. And don’t worry about missing out on the prize! Just email us a photo of your finished project by the end of the month, and we’ll include your prize in your next IndieStitch box.
To earn your prize, just complete the monthly project and share a photo by the last day of the month.
